Remove the Linoleum.

Hi, Mira, take out all the lino, clean the floor so there
is no bits or hard parts left, now you can paint the floor
with a water proof paint ( this will stop any damp coming
through, ( some people put plastic sheeting over it ( unwise)
warm room,cold concrete,beacuse you already have a nice flat
floor, you need only cover it with 1/4" water proof plywood.
( dont forget to shanfer the edges and plug and screw the
plywood down every 12" apart. fill the joints "V" with
a good filler, and sink the screws into the ply about 1/16" so
you can put filler over them too.
sand the surface smooth, and then let the floor layer do his job.
