I would like to know the best way to remove carpet from my basement stairs. There are two landings and in between both landings there are about eight steps. I would like to remove all the carpet from the stairs and both landings. The carpet is on the stairs, landing and the side boards that are around the steps. Should I just leave the carpet and have the installer put the new carpet right over the old? What types of tools would I need to tackle the job? I have a finish basement and I have already removed all the carpet from the basement floor. The only thing I have left are the stairs. Please let me know what I should do and how I should go about removing the carpet fromt he stairs. Thank you in advance.
