Frank, There seems to be a design problem with the keypads for the automatic garage door openers. The keypad seems to have problems making contact internally in the cold weather. The opener is not the problem, because the remote in the car works fine. I believe it is the pushbuttons not making good enough electrical contact. I've noticed others having the same problem when I drop their kids off in cold weather. Replacing the battery helps a little, but it's not the whole answer. A couple of years ago I replaced a ten year old one with a newer model, and it's a little bit better, but it still has its problems. Short of finding a way to keep these things warm, I don't know the answer.
