Remodel Recessed Lights

Posted by Marlowe on December 3rd, 2002 11:41 AM

I am installing a 6” “remodel type” recessed light where a junction box previously existed and a light hung down from. When I cut the hole for the remodel can, I found directly above a sheathed electrical cable cable probably going to an outlet on another circuit. There isn’t enough slack to move the wire completely around the recessed can and there isn’t an attic above to see where the wire goes. I am using an insulated can but I’m concerned the wire may be close enough to the light to get hot. Is there a way to insulate that wire to not be a concern?
