Reglazing an old bathtub -- concerns

Posted by David H Smith on August 31st, 2000 11:28 AM

Bathtub reglazing guy told me his process is to first etch it with what he called a mixture of hydrofluoric, sulfuric, and other acids. This mixture he proposes to flush down my drains.

It seems to me that this is terrible stuff to put down the drains, both environment-wise and for the condition of my old drain pipes. I didn't ask him whether the state DEP knows he does this.

What do you think?
