Definity an electrical problem.
Might be a bad stabilizer.
Or a bad receptacle. If the plug is not tight fitting in the receptacle then replace that to start with.
Also problems like Dan mentioned are more common than one would think. Special if the house is old and/or been remodeled several times.
Do you have any switches around that "don't do anyhting".
