refinishing kitchen hardwood floors

I am looking for the same information. I have
a kitchen floor that had been covered by 2 layers of vinyl, a sub-floor that was stapled down,
and a layer of old tile that was glued down.
I have reached the original maple and have rough
sanded it. There are a lot of old gouges and I
had to "sink' a lot of the old staples that broke off. What would look best on a floor that will
never be smooth
