Hi, Ed. Sorry to tell you but you will have to sand. Most strippers will also attack the fiberglass. You should be able to machine finish sand this with about 100 grit pretty easily, but you will have to hand sand recesses.

The clear film finish is separating from the jel stain. You have to have some tooth between layers of finish. A light sanding just to roughen up the surface, say with 400 grit, helps the bonding and you should also make sure that products are compatable. Buying all the finishing products from the same line and checking with their customer service people before you start will help you confirm this. Search for a manufacturers web site and E-mail them for their recommendations before you buy will help you make a final decision.
