We recently purchased a cast iron tub which needed to be refinished.
After researching on the internet and seeing some tubs which had been
done by non-professionals, we chose to have it professionally refinished.
Check the internet sites, there are some kits and instructions available
if that is what you choose to do. If you choose the professional route,
make sure to get at least 5 or 6 quotes, we found the quotes varied alot
depending on which method was being used: ie: sandblasting or acid wash,
combination of the two or straight paint over. Be careful because the less
expensive quotes may be individuals who will just sand and paint over and
within a while you'll have major paint chipping problems.
