Just bought a house with beautiful oak factory-finished hardwood (the v-groove type - don't know if it's nailed or glued). Like I said, it's in pefect condition - however, I'm not a big fan of light coloured wood and want to sand it down to bare wood so a darker stain and urethane can be applied. Anybody know how much of a job I'm in for? I've used belt sanders before but have no experience on pre-finished floors. Plan to do this before furniture etc is moved in but don't want to attempt something that is impossible...appreciate hearing from anyone with any experience with this.
