Hi, I am hoping someone can answer this question. I am planning on installing 4 5" IC rated remodelling recessed lighting fixtures into one of my rooms. The problem is the can itself is 7.5" high and the amount of space between the bottom of the ceiling to the bottom of the floorboard above is 8.25". This only allows about 3/4" room between the top of the fixture and the bottom of the floorboard. I know that these cans can be in direct contact with insulation but I am concerned this will not be enough space and may be a fire hazard as well as overheat the fixture. Can anyone help?
