The first thing you need to do is get the model number and the chasis number if you can find it, possibly on the inside of the back cover if not on the outside. Go to and enter the brand, and model number. See what comes back. You may have to play around with brand, size, model number and chasis number. You can also go to in the newsgroups and restate what you said here but with more details ie. make, model, chasis and size and symptom. I bought two tv's off a co-worker for $30 a few years ago, fixed the portable myself and the 27" with help from people on the above newsgroup. Then I sold the real nice portable JVC back to the co-worker for $20. I could have gotten more but I felt I should at least pay something for my 27" tv besides a few hours labor. I am still watching it. People on the net are always looking to help, whether it is in electronics repair or home repair. Good luck.
