As you can tell from some of my replies, I'm with Steve....Go with real hardwood! Laminate flooring is like inexpensive carpet, and you have to look at it as such. Hardwood flooring will last a lifetime if you take care of it, and will add resale value to your house.
Consider prefinished for a DIY project and finished in place and hire it done.

If you really want to see what is better on the floor, purchase a strip of laminate flooring and a strip of hardwood, take a chisel and scratch both.....the laminate needs to be replaced! the hardwood can be replaced or snaded and refinished.
