Assuming you want to *refinish* those floors?

My husband and I just bought an old house and
refinished floors in two rooms. Check in a corner
to see how the carpet is connected. Ours pulled right
up. I can't help you much there. For refinishing,
there are two basic methods - aggressive and passive.
Aggressive is for more physically damaged or marked wood.
Rent a sander or hire someone to do it. We rented one and
used three different grades of sandpaper. This method will
actually wear away the top layer. Passive is just that-
use stripper to remove the finish. After taking off the
top layer or finish, use a tack cloth to remove dust,
them give it a couple of coats of polyurethane. I'm
not sure I got everything in here, but check with
your local Home Depot or Menard's or whatever you have.
