........if this condition still exists this is the problem.............

the wires may be nicked someplace or crushed by the cable clamp....nail/staple thru the cable........Can you "meter" this or do you just have an idiot light........any trace voltage will trip the GFCI.......

It worked with the switch re-wire because there was no GFCI to sense the extra "bandit" voltage......OR the wires moved and no longer made contact............
