My husband and I bought a house in Feb 2003 which has carpet throughout and we would like to redo the dining room including the floor. Out of curiosity, I pulled back a corner of the carpet and found hardwood floors. My reaction was why would anyone cover hardwood floors? My husband and I were considering peel and stick "hardwood look-a-like". Which method would be more cost efficient and less time consuming; refinishing the existing hardwood or using the peel and stick method? ( A nearby store has peel and sticks for $.39 each and we are looking at aprox. 13x13 room.)Any info you can give would be helpful. Also what would be involved with refinishing the existing floor?
