Sell the teak credenza to someone who appreciates it and use the money to get yourself an O'Sullivan credenza at Walmart.

(Seriously, teak is an oily wood and you shouldn't expect anything short of an epoxy paint to stick to and even then you'll probably have to thoroughly clean the wood with mineral spirits or acetone. So, if you don't like it, sell it and buy what you like.)
