Raised wood floor vs. slab foundation

I am planning to build a Home in Southern California (LA climate). I am trying to find out some of the advantages and disadvantages of raised floor versus slab foundations. In this area almost all homes are now built with a slab foundation.

The main reason I think I want a raised floor is because it is a lot easier on my feet. I assume this is because of the spring effect of the floor over the floor joists.

I have been told that I can use sleepers on a slab foundation. Is this worth considering?

Will the inside temperature of a raised floor home be more or less comfortable than that of a slab?

How do the total home construction costs compare of one home versus the other.

Please comment or tell me where I can obtain additional information on these questions. Thank you.
