Dear Annette: Please, please explore radiant barrier foil insulation and house wrap before you make your final decision.
These are the most remarkable energy conserving products on the market today. They reflect 97% of the radiated heat from the sun. I've personally seen an entire home insulated with this and I'm very impressed with the drop in electric bills.
