In reply to French Drains by Stephen Dorf on August 17th, 2001 09:39 AM [Go to top of thread]

Hi Stephen,

Usually, a French Drain is the worst-case solution.

WHat's the landscape like IMMEDIATELY outside the wall like? (Garden, sloping, front or back of house ...)
Why do you think you're getting the water? (Please don't say an underground spring ...)
Have you inspected your gutters and downspouts and spout-drains recently DURING a heavy rain? (So you can see where the water is ACTUALLY coming from AND actually 'running' to ...)
Assuming you end up putting in a french drain, where and how are you going to get the water AWAY from the house/foundation?

For now, my best to ya and hope this helps.
