We have 8 round pylons/columns holding up our porch roofs. They have a square of wood at bottom and top, and the columns go from narrow at the top, to wider at the bottom. The bottom and top squares of wood are rotten and need to be replaced. The columns need to be stripped down to bare wood and repainted. What is the most inexpensive, best way to tackle this job? Can we do this ourselves? The house ranges in age from 1866-1925. It was built in stages over the years and needs so much work, we want to do as much do it your self as possible. Thank you.
