Hi Debbie

The natural wood finish on your cabinets/baseboards is probably fading due to the low humidity you guys have down there.

What you need to do is take all the doors and hardware off the cabinets, use 4-0 steel wool and lightly steel wool the finished surfaces with the grain, wipe down with a tack-cloth and put on two or possibly 3 light coats of a semigloss polyurethane, steel-wooling between coats. Be sure not to shake or aggressively stir the polyurethane before applying, as this will put bubbles into the finish. This should bring the finish right back and make them look like new.
