I have an 8 ft. celling in my hall. I wanted to replace the attic stairs as they were getting week. I went to Home Depot and asked which one should I buy between the 10ft one or the 8 ft one.I was advised to buy the 10 ft. one and then trim the bottom to fit. I had installed the 10 ft one and then trimmed as per instructed. Well now the stairs are going straight up with the steps slightly tilted downward. My question is if I had purchased the 8 ft. one would it have been a better angle to assend into the attic. The 10 ft. one is angled so I have to hold onto the rail to assend the ladder. The ones I had taken out were at an angle as to where I didn't have to hold onto the railing to go up the ladder. Would I have been better to install the 8 ft. one.
