If you use non-metallic sheathed cable (sheathed electrical cable) for your service, two conductor will have one wire insulated in white and you need to identify both ends with black tape or color with black sharpie pen. If the control on the kiln has an "off" position on the temp control dial or an on/off switch on it, you can run service directly to it. The dial must have the word "off" on it indicating that both legs are switched. It may not since you have a white wire. This would indicate that only the black wire leg is being switched and if so and there is no separate "off" switch on the kiln, you are required to have a separate disconnecting means at the kiln. The bottom line is safety, you can't have too much info on this. Luck, Kizmet
