Problems with new home

Posted by Scott on March 20th, 2003 04:50 PM

We just had a modular home built and placed on Superior Walls in the summer of 2002. The home is 28x52. There are two 2x6 studs coming through our bathroom wall; cracks over windows, doorways and drywall joints, and there is even a crack running parallel to a sidewall 6" in. Additionally, our basement floor has spiderwebbed, most of the cracks are 1/8" wide, chunks of concrete coming out along the cracks, and when you run your hand over a crack you can tell it is not even. We have been told that this uneveness is curling. The basement does not have any control joints cut, not sealed, and the cement has fibers with an admixture of some sort. We have been told by the general contractor and sub contractor that did the job that these items are normal. Is this normal? Is there anyone out there that gives independent evaluations of these type of things? Is there a standard or code on control joints or sealing? What is the best way to repair a basement floor like this?

Please help....
