as long as you don't have short circuiting of the air from the warm air outlet to the cold air return. An ideal location might be a register along one wall blowing up the wall with the cold air return on an opposite wall. I would think the most important thing would be not to have the air blowing directly on the people in the room, ie, across the floor or directly down from the ceiling.
Perhaps Harold has some input.
