Tension type floors rely on the principle of the floor being fastened securely at the perimeter, and then being allowed to shrink and "float" over the subloor. When the adhesive or staples let go at the edge it is next to impossible to pull it back out to the edge. On the bright side these floors are not that difficult to remove when it comes time to replace.
