We are insulating our attic which is a finished livable space and has had no insulation for 100 yrs. Upon inspection, a white powdery mildew has appeared on the rafters on the north side, the south side has none. I believe this mildew was not present this summer. The attic is drywalled so we need to rip it all down, insulate and reapply the drywall. My question is HOW should i remove the mildew and should i use strapping to insure ventilation thoughout the insulation? Its a small house in a beachside community, lots of moisture. Thanks
