Pouring concrete upright and footing at same time

Posted by John on March 19th, 2000 07:20 PM

I am building a block retaining wall but first I need to put in three concrete uprights ten feet high by ten inches at each end of the 20 foot project and one in the middle. Also I am putting in a footer 20 feetlong 12 inch square. All reinforced with rebar.
So we are talking two cubic yards of concrete for the whole project...the concrete company will only deliver a two cubic yard minimum so I'm ok there.

The problem is how do I pour the footing and the uprights all together without the concrete over flowing the footer from the upright pour.

I know it makes sense to pour the footing first and wait a few days and do the uprights but I'm not real enthused about mixing two yards of cement by hand especially if I have to clime a ladder to dump the heavy stuff in the uprights.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
