I HAVE A REPRODUCTION POST AND BEAM FEDERAL. THE MATERIAL USED WAS A POOR QUALITY GREEN OAK. BEYOND ALL THE CHECKING, SPLITTING, TWISTING, AND MOVEMENT IN EVERY DIRRECTION POSSIBLE, THERE IS NO BRACING AT THE CORNERS. NONE! THE MASSIVE CENTER CHIMNEY IS KEEPING THE HOME FROM RACKING IN THE WIND ONLY BE DEFAULT.
THE ROOF IS NATURAL CEDAR SHAKES INSTALLED DIRECTLY ONTOP OF RIGID INSULATION.
THE SIDDING IS THE LOWEST GRADE PINE BOARD THAT MONEY COULD NOT BUY. BELIEVE IT OR NOT, THE SIDDING IS NAILED DIRRECTLY TO THE RIGID INSULATION. YEPA, NO SHEATHING WHAT SO EVER! NEED I CONTINUE?
WHY NOT? TRY INVISIONING THIS BEAUTIFUL 12'x36' SUN ROOM ATTACHED TO THE BACK OF THE HOME. THE ROOF CONTINUES THE MAIN ROOF LINE TO MAKE THE HOME A SALT BOX. ALL OF THE BACK OF THE MAIN HOUSE IS OPENED INTO THE SUNROOM. IT IS BEAUTIFUL EXCEPT THAT THERE IS 16 SKY LIGHTS WEIGHING DOWN THE ROOF. THE WEIGHT IS NOT CONTROLLED WITH A CROSS BRACE SO THE OUTER WALL IS PUSHING OUT. THIS MOVEMENT IS PULLING ON THE MAIN HOME CAUSE THERE IS NO CORNER BRACING.
WHO WANTS TO SEE "THIS OLD HOUSE" TACKLE THIS PROJECT?
