We just gave Resolve a try, and it seemed to help (at least temporarily). My other thought (after using some kind of cleaner, like Resolve, etc.) was to sprinkle baking soda on the carpet, let it sit a night, and then vacuum it out. Baking soda is a fabulous odor absorber, and a good cleaner in its own right -- the only possible problem is that, when wet (or even damp) it can form a very filmy white paste that can be hard to remove. Still, used dry and vacuumed, I think it's a decent option. Good luck.
