Rob, here's a possible thought. Suspend an evaporation pan below the vent; even something as simple as a baking sheet with shallow sidewalls, or a Rubbermaid tray might do the trick. Suspend the pan level below the vent, allowing 8" to 10" from the low side of the rafters, so that any snow blowing in lands in the pan, melts, and evaporates without damaging anything.

Be sure the pan hangs level, but keep it down a ways so that you don't block your ventilation.
