Perhaps this will help. When I removed the old wall paper from my walls, there was alot of residual glue left on the drywall. I used the wall paper remover solution that you're supposed to sponge over the wall paper (after piercing with paper tiger) directly over the residual paste to loosen it then scraped and sponged the wall clean. You might be able to do this, but more carefully, to clean up your new wallpaper.
