In reply to Funny Story, And Then Some ... by Jay J -Moderator on February 13th, 2001 10:59 AM [Go to top of thread]

Unless you are in a hot climate, pools don't interest most people and aren't worth the money. Only a family with kids may be interested. Then they are a liability cause all the neighborhood kids will be in there and maybe drown. They need daily cleaning and weekly at the most. In the cold climates, they need partial draining and covered and then they still need a good cleaning/draining in the spring to get it going again with all the leaves and crud that blows in there which makes them an eyesore most of the year and the covers hard to clean. Then wait till the concrete around it cracks and needs replacing or the pool needs resurfacing or even repainting or you have to replace the pump and filter. Like your public pools you may only get to use them for 3 months in the summer. Unless you can afford to heat them also, then you have to be a glutten for punishment wanting to jump into cold water everyday even in the summer. Best bet is a heated pool that is covered year around. Even people with outdoor spas rarely use them in the winter. Just my 2 cents.
