Plywood roofing

Posted by Laura McCumber on October 28th, 2002 12:41 PM

I'm fixing to add plywood to a new roof . I'm curious about a few things .1. There is a tape that I've seen on the show that is used to seam the edges of the plywood together . It looks to be super adhesive and a rubber type tape . What's it called and where can I buy it ?
2. If I paint the plywood with a heavy duty oil base paint . Won't it add quite a bit more protection against any moisture that may seep in in the future ?
3.I've heard that black tar paper ( in the south ) has been known to build up a sweat / condinsation ( high humidity here ) and should be left out of my roofing technique . Is this true ?
4.I've seen on my favorite chic of all time Martha Stewarts show , that they make a faux finish for tin rooves . Something like you see on real copper that has been aged with a green patina . Where can I get this and have you any negative thoughts on it as far as how it looks when it wears ?
Thank you for your time - Laura McCumber
