Plastic Connector Cracked...what caused it??

Posted by Deanna on February 21st, 2001 01:30 PM

Last night I uncovered my gas grill for the first time in a couple of months. After trying to light the gas, I noticed that the plastic connector from the grill burner that connects to the propane tank is totally cracked and broken!

I'm wondering what might have caused this and hope that someone with experience in extreme weather conditions can give me some insight...

I have no children, so nobody was out in the back yard throwing things...

The propane tank is properly bolted in place so it could not have shifted...

Weather conditions were EXTREMELY cold during December/January. Might the plastic have expanded and cracked? Is it best to disconnect the hose during winter months?

I think I can replace the part that is broken, but would like an idea as to what caused this to happen...
