hi,i live in canada and i do plastering for a living.the thing that i would suggest you is 1-give a coat of undercoater or underbody;this is a primer that let u put latex on top(cuz plaster is water base)then repair all your crack(tape and 3 coats) then glaze all the wall(s).by doing that,u will have all the same texture all over your wall and a smooth surface.then sand,prime and paint!!!!
