I have a Home built in 1917. The previous owners had an elevator built into the kitchen. Upon removal of the elevator(to get back the dining room) The ceiling needed to be repaired. I have a 5' by 6' hole in the plaster and lath that I have filled with 5/8" drywall. The drywall is about 1/16 below the surface of the lath. My Problem is that I now have an area around the drywall(Approx 1/8 to 1/2 inch) that needs to be filled. Any Suggestions on how to fill these gaps and also finish the surface to make it look good again? I plan on using a plaster texture after I have finished repairing the hole!
