In reply to reliability of Aquapex - Polyethylene water pipes by Ed Stanford on April 7th, 2000 10:58 AM [Go to top of thread]

Hi Ed,

I think the cross linked pipe is great! I went to a seminar recently and was impressed. I first ran across it in a house last year. I was unsure at first, but then looked at the advantages. Ease of install, with everything homerun less of a problem down the road. The pipe will puncture just like copper. You need to protect it in a vunerable spot with a metal strap. One thing is that should'nt mix fittings from different manufacturers. As far as resale, I don't think your going to lose a sale over it. The problems with previous plastic pipe are fresh in peoples minds. Have some literature on hand to prove otherwise. MOst come with a good warranty. The pipe I'm familiar with is Kitec.
