Usually, unless I'm feeling brave (but I'm not when it comes to paint), I don't change the 'brand' I use because, well, it works for me.
Most of the 'general' complaints had to do with coverage. Many folks had to apply 3 or more topcoats to get even coverage. But even then, they could still see anomolies in the paint job. Also, prep work may alleviate coverage issues. Perhaps 2 or even 3 coats of Primer/Sealer are good no matter WHAT color the topcoat is. Other than that, I can't speak from experience.
I will add, though, that if you know of people that have had success w/the paint, 'talk' to them. They may have some tips. Otherwise, as you've read, go with what you 'hear' works. If you need more info, ask away.
