You can give it a try, but keep an eye on it. Your concern is wonder if it starts to leak while you on vacation, work, or out for the weekend? Can you handle these consequences?

If it was mine, I would bite the bullet and replace it now. Its a complete unknown.

Next time, tighten the bolts ever so carefully, run then down hand tight, then sit on the throne and waller a bit, then tighten them up again, a turn or two, then sit again and waller a bit, then tighten a turn or two again, repeat process until the thing is nice and tight. That will do it.
