Hi Andrew
A perk test determines how fast the ground will accept water and how quickly it disperses it. Contact your county health department and they will give you a list of pro's that preform these test. They will also give you the state requirements of how far the well has to be from the lateral fields, how many feet you have to be away from the stream. The perk test , before buying ,is a smart idea. The cost of a typical gravity flow septic system and a advance system can vary 1000's of dollars.
