PB pipe and compression fitting leak

Posted by Rocky on December 1st, 1999 01:42 PM

This problem is driving me nuts!
We tore out a shower in our bathroom to make a linen closet. We are in a mobile home with PB pipe and need to close off the hot and cold water supply that used to go to the shower. One hardware store recommended the glue/primer/plastic cap solution that lasted for about a whole 10 hours before I had a major water mess. The next store suggested a brass compression fitting and a brass cap. I have tried it with and without teflon tape and it still has a very slow leak from the joint where the two brass pieces join together.

Should these be soldered together?
Is there a better solution (besides replumbing the house with copper at this time)?
