My answer depends on the age of the siding.

Sugestion 1.

1) All siding fades. If the the siding is fairly new, (past 10 to 15 years), the best way I know of doing this may be to remove enough material from a part of the home that is not generaly seen and patch the area that will be seen. It should be faded the same as the rest of the house.

2) You will need to find out what brand you have on your home. Bring a piece of your old siding to a Vinyl Siding wholesale Supply House, (look in the phone book under "Vinyl Siding, wholesale".
Nothing against Home Depot but, you may have to find the oldest siding company in town to find out what it is.

You will need to match your new siding as closely as possible to the old siding not only in color & texture, but more importantly by measurements. For example, not all double 4 vinyl siding is a true 4" to the weather, some are 3 3/4" to the weather. Alsco for example is a very old brand of siding that will have a different type of lock than a Mastic or Certainteed or Gold Bond.

3) Reside the area that is out of site.

Sugestion 2.

If your siding is older than 15 years old, depending on the brand, it may be too brittle to repair.

You may want to Reside just that section of the house. If you are going from two entrances to one, take the opportunity to add a door suround. Just make sure that you side that area of the house compleatly different from the rest, ie. novelty siding like vinyl shakes (Cedar Impressions look nice.)

Last but by no means least,

Call 3 "old" Home Improvement Contractors in your area and benifit from thier years of experiance.

Good luck,
