Parts for Longwood Furnace

I currently own the Longwood Dualfuel Furnace Series VII. I am having a problem with the door latch, and the "homeowners manual" doesn't break down the parts to service well enough, am wondering, if once again, you can help me.
When the door opens, the latch doesn't seem to "pop" all the way to its final destination, or it "goes too far", and you have to "bang" it back into position in order to close the main wood door. It's almost like a spring or a pin of some sort is broken off, but I don't dare to take it apart, for fear springs and the like will go everywhere, and I won't be able to get it back together. Believe it or not, winter has arrived here in Maine.
Thank you, and also let me thank you for the candies, when I placed my last order for replacement gaskets.
