Hi, Lisa. First, go down and read the thread 1920'S OAK PARQUET FLOORING that was posted by Karne on 3/4. Then get you phone book and call 3 floor refinishers for an estimate. When they come out for this, ask a lot about how much experience they have with parquet along with questions about their general experience, customer references and the like. After you have the 3 bids, call the BBB and check with them for problems. Then call the guy with the middle bid and give him the work. Isn't that easy?

I have no problem with informed DIYers refinishing strip or plank flooring but parquet is different. It takes a lot more experience to do it right.
