Paneling-to remove or cover

Posted by AnnaMarie on April 6th, 2001 01:13 PM

My paneling delima is a difficult one. I just resently purchased a home that is about 100yrs old and in the master bedroom
paneling was installed and the ceiling was dropped about 2-3 feet. When the paneling was installed they only went up about 1 foot
under the drop ceiling so the panel job does not go to the original ceiling. I would like to redo the entire master bdrm by removing the
drop ceiling to utalize the 10ft ceilings but what do I do about the paneling... My first thought was to purchase or create a crown molding
that would work with the gap between the paneling and the original ceiling and then cover the paneling with the paintable wallpaper. Would this
route be easier and more cost effect or would you recomend tearing down the paneling.
