I have put drywall mud on the wall with a large "putty knife" and then used a large sea sponge to "dab" on the surface, creating a "stippling" effect. My question is: should I leave the vertical strips in place which cover the cracks where the panels join together? Also, has anyone painted the paneling and with what results? prime first?
