Get a spatter shield roller.($5.00)That will catch alot of the drips and splashes. Cover everything -floor and furnature with dropcloths. There is a roller system that sucks up the paint into the handle and has a trigger to dispense it onto the roller. If you are doing a lot of painting this is worth the $30.00. Generally ceilings look best in a flat white paint.
