Painting/Staining Stone Fireplace

Valerie........I am in agreement too. Once you paint that stone - it will always have to be painted - there is no going back.

Did you ever think about putting that room back to what it would have looked like when the house was new? Furniture - color - the whole nine.

Instead of fighting the house - work with what it is....

I had a friend who sold his parents 1962 home - his parents had it custom built then - it was beautiful - the epitome of a big early 60's bungalow - everything inside and out went with the house - it had been designed as a piece - even the landscaping. When his parents died - he sold it. The new people put on vinyl siding - new windows - replaced all kinds of things inside the house - including painting a stone wall fireplace in the sunken living room!

Poor thing - it looked horrible - they fought what the house was - and it turned out to be a mess.

Think of ways to work with your house - let it be what it is - it and you will be happier........
